What's The Difference Between Long Span Shelving And Pallet Racking

1. Different uses

Long Span Shelving is mainly used to store small items that are manually handled. It is suitable for storing cartons, spare parts or medium-weight goods. It is widely used in retail warehouses, workshops, office storage and other scenarios.

Pallet Racking is designed for palletized storage and is suitable for goods handled by forklifts. It is generally used in large warehouses, logistics centers or heavy goods storage environments.

2. Different load-bearing capacity

Long Span Shelving is a medium-sized shelf, and each layer can bear about 200 to 800 kilograms, with slight differences depending on the specifications.

Pallet Racking has a significantly stronger load-bearing capacity, with a single layer that can bear more than 1,000 kilograms, and can even reach several tons, making it suitable for storing heavy pallet goods.

3. Different structural dimensions

Long Span Shelving has a smaller height and depth, usually between 2 and 3 meters in height, and an adjustable layer height for easy manual access.

Pallet Racking has a higher and deeper structure, and can stack multiple layers of pallets, usually up to 6 meters to 10 meters in height, requiring forklifts to load and unload goods.

4. Different storage and access methods

Long Span Shelving relies entirely on manual storage and access, and is suitable for frequent picking or small and medium-sized batch shipments.

Pallet Racking relies on mechanical equipment such as forklifts to move pallet goods, and is suitable for large-scale in and out, batch in and out of the warehouse.

5. Cost difference

Long Span Shelving has a simple structure, easy installation, and relatively low cost.

Pallet Racking has a complex structure and has higher requirements for ground load and space height, so the overall cost is higher, but it is cost-effective and suitable for high-density storage.
