Two types of riveted shelving

There are two types of boltless shelving on the market today: single rivet (thin) and double rivet (large span). A variety of iterations of each version can be found according to your manufacturer.

Single Rivet

Single rivet shelving uses double rivet construction at the top and bottom of the unit for increased durability and rigidity. The rest of the shelf level uses single rivets. Manufacturers make single rivet shelving in a variety of widths, but up to 48 inches. The thinner beams used make single rivet shelving easier to access than double rivet shelving.

Double Rivet

Spieth makes double rivet shelving in widths up to 96 inches. Manufacturers sell more Double Rivet shelving options, offering users more configuration options. The larger size makes manual access more challenging.

Components of Boltless Shelving

Boltless shelving consists of three components: vertical posts, horizontal beams and decking.

For vertical or upright posts, rack shelving units use tee or angle posts.

Tee posts attached at both ends allow the user to attach additional boltless shelving units.

Corner posts stabilize the standing unit and are attached at all four corners.

Accessories for Boltless Shelving

Users have many accessories to maximize the utility of the purchased rivet shelving depending on the warehouse layout. Some of the available accessories include

Board decking

Half-inch or three-quarter-inch particle board for boltless shelving provides a stable platform for shelving. Half-inch is suitable for lighter loads. You can also purchase any size laminate.

Wire decking

Wire decking provides a greater view of products stored on riveted shelving. In warehouses where there is no climate control or outdoor storage, wire panels allow air to circulate the product and help maintain shelf life. There are various openings between wires, as well as different powder coatings.

Drawers

Riveted shelving drawers allow users to store smaller items. Depending on the type, drawers for boltless shelving can hold up to 46 lbs.

Foot Pedals

Foot pedals secure the boltless shelving units to the floor. This makes them more stable and safer, especially in busy warehouses with regular picking and replenishment.

Boltless shelving design features

● Boltless shelving can store small to medium loads that require manual access.
● Warehouses, supply and distribution centers often have rows of boltless shelving as well as other types of shelving.
● Riveted shelving adds excellent functionality to mezzanines and t-tops, providing additional storage space that is easy to install.
● Depending on the type, boltless shelving can handle loads up to 2,000 pounds.
● Not only do riveted shelves have no beams, but this shelving design has no sway brackets or panels.

Advantages of Boltless Shelving

● As well as being easy to assemble and access, riveted shelving is completely modular. As storage needs grow, additional units can be added quickly by warehouse or other users.
● The lack of sides means there are no boxes or containers blocking the view when searching for items.
● Boltless shelving is adjustable, so users can change the size and height to accommodate different products.

● The cost of riveted shelving must typically be lower than other types of shelving, up to 40% less in most cases.
