Cantilever racks are unique among racks as they are vertically supported only at the rear of the rack, with "arms" extending from the columns at the rear of the system to support the load.

The benefit of this configuration is that the open aisles at the front of the rack allow for loading and storage of a variety of long, bulky or unwieldy loads. Handrails are available in a variety of styles and sizes and can be easily reconfigured, making it an ideal solution for storing items such as furniture and building materials.

Cantilever racking can be used indoors or outdoors. With the addition of decking, cantilever racking can also provide storage similar to pallet racking, with the advantage of no front risers, as each storage bay is immediately accessible and therefore can be easily loaded and unloaded.
