You have probably heard the term mezzanine floor, but do you really know what a mezzanine is? A mezzanine floor is an intermediate floor, either permanent or temporary, installed in a building between the main floor and a ceiling that is partially open to the main floor.
Commonly used in manufacturing facilities, warehouses and many other industrial settings to utilize as much available space as possible. Mezzanines are a great way to increase available space without adding new buildings and utilizing existing land area.
The mezzanine has a low ceiling that extends out over the main floor, but does not completely cover it. There are different types of mezzanines that can stand on their own or be supported by walls or other permanent parts of the building.
In many cases, the mezzanine is referred to as the floor above the ground floor. Mezzanines can be used as additional office space, storage areas or work platforms. Mezzanines can be installed in multiple locations and formats from platforms outside the building to improve access to the building or as a second level for work areas.
